🎙️ "Song of Mary" on So Much More podcast

The “So Much More” Podcast

I recently had the privilege of talking with Jodie Niznik on her podcast, “So Much More.” It’s a unique podcast where each episode has two parts, the first: a guided scripture meditation (sometimes called Lectio Divina), and the second: a conversation with somebody about the text usually paired with a ministry introduction.

In this episode, I got to join Jodie in discussing Luke 1:46-53—the song of Mary—and meditate through some of the many facets of the text. I then got to discuss some of the backstory around Beginner’s Apprenticeship and our Daily Prayer Resources for Advent.

You can check out the conversation on Spotify, Apple Music, or wherever you get your podcasts by searching “So Much More.”

Mary’s Song (God of Justice)

Listening to Mary’s Song again after recording the podcast, I’m reminded again of God’s Kingdom Justice. The first last, the last first. We’ve heard it a million times, but it can still be hard to see the miracle and scandal of the virgin birth and her modest origins. And how God chooses to bless humanity through the effects of the curse—the pains of childbirth. And how an infinite God would become a vulnerable baby. (Trust me, they’re vulnerable! Even from kid 1 to 2, I’m surprised how fragile life can be.)

I hope this conversation is a blessing, and pray that however you engage with the Advent season, that God’s Spirit blesses your faith and joins you in the season of waiting.

Special thanks to Christina Jelinek from Leaven + Liturgies for her voice and partnership in Mary’s Song (God of Justice)!
